Overview
Eventually, you stop counting. How could you, when 25,000 head of big game are running in circles in a prison crater 20 kilometers in diameter? Sounds like an unimaginable number. But it’s relative for the Serengeti, because outside the crater, there are 1.6 million. That’s slightly more than the number of palm trees on the idyllic beaches of Zanzibar. You don’t need to count them either.

Itinerary
Jambo! Welcome to Tanzania! Your tour guide will give you a warm welcome, and then you'll head straight to Moshi, where the students of "More Than A Drop" are eagerly awaiting you. This project, with its attached guesthouse, is dedicated to providing disadvantaged girls with training in the hotel industry. After you've settled into your room and rested a bit, a highlight awaits you in the early evening. We'll roll up our sleeves, let the girls show us how to prepare typical Tanzanian dishes, and then cook along with them. Afterwards, we'll gather together and enjoy our self-created delicacies. Completely satisfied and happy, we'll finally fall into bed at the More Than A Drop guesthouse.
Dinner is included today.
The journey covers approximately 80 km.
Your first adventure in Tanzania awaits you today. Lace up your hiking boots! We're hiking at the foot of mighty Kilimanjaro. From your accommodation, you can already see its snow-capped peak on a clear day. Of course, we won't make it all the way up there today. That takes a few more days. But we have enough time for the first leg, and the scenery at the foot of the mountain is also breathtaking. Let's go! Our vehicle will take us to the Marangu Gate. Here, your hike on the Marangu Route in Kilimanjaro National Park begins. You'll hike along well-maintained paths through the lush greenery of the dense rainforest. Vines hang from the trees, and everywhere you look, giant ferns rise from the ground, stretching towards the sunlight. This is pure jungle bliss! The rainforest is a true natural paradise. The Marangu Falls are also on our route. We return to the Marangu Gate via the same route, where our vehicle is waiting for us and will take us back to »More than a drop« .
The included meals are breakfast, a picnic lunch, and dinner.
The journey covers approximately 80 km.
For easy to moderate hikes, we recommend sturdy footwear.
The first safari of your African adventure is on the agenda. We're heading to Arusha National Park, and your excitement at seeing your first antelopes will be boundless. Zebras, giraffes, and buffalo also inhabit the park, and with a bit of luck, you'll spot them all today. And if not, no worries – this trip offers countless more opportunities to observe wildlife. You'll gain a completely different perspective during our hike in Arusha Park. If a giraffe happens to cross your path, it will seem twice as tall. Incidentally, the 4,566-meter-high Mount Meru provides the perfect backdrop for photos. In the afternoon, we'll arrive at our hotel. Are you a coffee lover? Then take a look at how the beans for your favorite pick-me-up are cultivated during our tour of the hotel's own coffee plantation.
The included meals are breakfast, a picnic lunch, and dinner.
The route covers approximately 220 km.
We're making our way through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Africa's most famous wildlife reserve. The word Serengeti means "endless land" to the Maasai, and that's exactly what it is. An endless, picture-perfect savannah landscape awaits you. Scattered, solitary acacia trees offer the animals some shade. Look forward to incredible wildlife encounters in this breathtaking landscape. Huge herds of wildebeest and zebra roam the national park, and with a bit of luck, we'll spot them.
The included meals are breakfast, a picnic lunch, and dinner.
The journey covers approximately 180 km.
Early risers, please! This is one of the fundamental rules of every safari, as wildlife is most active in the mornings and afternoons. The reason is obvious: it's too hot at midday. The animals prefer to find a shady spot under a tree then. Perhaps we'll be lucky today and see a lion family having breakfast. They usually hunt at night and sleep the rest of the day under a shady tree. Or perhaps we'll witness a cheetah chasing a gazelle at breakneck speed. It's the fastest land animal in the world, and when you see it in action, you'll never doubt it. Elephants, on the other hand, move at a more leisurely pace. You could happily watch these large and small gray pachyderms play and communicate with each other for hours.
The included meals are breakfast, a picnic lunch, and dinner.
Can't get enough? Our additional recommendation:
- Experience a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti at sunrise, followed by a champagne breakfast amidst nature. The price for the approximately one-hour hot air balloon ride with breakfast is €650 per person.
Other international guests will also participate. The duration and route of the flight depend on the weather and wind conditions. This optional activity is an alternative to the early-morning safari. Please book this excursion with Afromagic Adventures well in advance of your trip.
It's another early start today, as the safari begins with sunrise. Stunning colors, breathtaking moments, and active animals at dawn await you. You'll forget all about tiredness in no time. The Serengeti is vast – a walk will allow you to soak up the atmosphere of the savanna. Here, the focus isn't on the large four-legged creatures, but rather on the tracks and sounds of nature. Afterwards, we'll travel to the western part of the national park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thanks to the river that flows year-round, the Grumeti area is home to a great diversity of species. You're sure to see animals here that you've never photographed before .
The included meals are breakfast, a picnic lunch, and dinner.
A new day in the wilderness dawns. We'll leave the car parked this morning, as we want to explore the bush on foot. We'll start directly from the camp. Along the way, the ranger, who knows the area like the back of his hand, will show us interesting savanna plants and animal tracks. The hike will take you to the Grumeti River, where, with a bit of luck, you might spot a herd of wildebeest or zebras. On foot, you'll experience the bush in a completely different way. Here, you're literally at eye level with the wildlife. A fantastic experience you'll never forget. Embrace this adventure and experience nature with all your senses. Finally, we'll get back in the car and drive back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We'll reach our camp in the late afternoon. You'll spend the night in the heart of the bush, but quite comfortably with proper beds, water, and electricity. And yet, out here, you're right in the middle of the African wilderness, infinitely far from civilization. Enjoy this solitude.

The chirping of birds gently awakens you from your sleep. We have breakfast at camp and set off early in the morning, because today our destination is the area with the highest density of predators in Africa: the Ngorongoro Crater. Your chances of seeing the "Big Five" today are good. These include the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, buffalo, and the largest of them all, the elephant. Giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest are sure to stop by to say goodbye. Then it's time to say farewell. Don't be sad, a completely different, but no less beautiful, side of Africa awaits you – the island of Zanzibar. But not until tomorrow, so you'll have to be patient. Our destination today is once again Karatu. Here you can rest in the afternoon after all your wildlife adventures, read a good book, and simply relax.

Our guide will be waiting for us at Zanzibar airport and will take us straight to our hotel in Stone Town, right in the heart of this vibrant city's historic center. Your guide will say goodbye here, because you certainly don't need him to laze around. Finally, sea, sun, and sand! And what a beach! The finest white powder sand awaits you. Unpack your suitcase, put on your swimwear, and then dive into the waves!
